Global Missions William Carey led the modern missionary movement by envisioning and leading a small group of men and women to carry the gospel to India when the popular consensus was "If God wanted those heathen converted he would see to it himself." Carey's passion for saving the lost and his family's sacrifice for this calling continue to inspire Christians to journey to dangerous foreign lands. In my portrayal of Carey, attempt to reveal Carey's struggle between security and taking risks for Christ's Great Commission for all Christian disciples. Carey's belief that all true believer's are part of this noble effort, set in motion the distinctive way, in which, Baptists have united for these causes in Christendom. Contemporary Baptist congregations benefit from hearing how Carey's calling continues to influence us.
